Average Sale Price for the month was $892,934, down from $1,046,147 the previous month and up 22.6% from $728,424 the prior year. Expectations of a Fed rate cut coupled with signs of cooling inflation bode well for the market, but apprehension in consumer confidence may prevent an immediate uptick as affordability challenges remain top of mind. Despite this, a recent moderation in home price growth and increases in housing inventory are a welcoming sign for potential homebuyers.
Aspiring homeowners should remember to shop for the best mortgage rate, as rates vary widely between lenders. - The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.73% down from 6.95% the previous week. At this time, a year ago, the 30-year FRM averaged 7.02%.
- The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.99% down from 6.25% the previous week. At this time a year ago, the 15-year FRM averaged 6.33%.
